Each year, my work grows and evolves into something bigger, more interesting, and better. As an artist, there is no greater pleasure for me than finding genuine growth and improvement in my projects. As I have grown and matured, so has my art. Below are some of the pieces I recently created in my studio.

THE GARDEN TROUGH
SOLD
This is the back yard of the house on my family farm we called "the old house"
I'm not sure how long this trough in the foreground has been in that location, it is concrete and too heavy to move. It is a wonderful cool place to water plants, chill a watermelon or a beer on a hot day. This painting is a study of how light effects form, and the interplay of cool and warm on the objects shown.

WHISTLE STOP LAKE CITY SC
2009
My home town of Kingstree SC is just up the road from Lake City, the city with no lake, has many memories for me. This painting was created on location on a hot summer day after a rain.

FRENCH FARM HOUSE
January 30, 2025
This continues to be a controversial piece with mixed reviews from art critics. To me, Chaos of Humanity represents an incredibly powerful theme that permeates our daily lives. With the use of color and abstract expression, I manage to evoke both the positive and negative energy of humankind, its selfishness, but also its incredible resilience.

DRINKS AT SIX
2015
The painting is an interior of a home built in 1810 on a plantation in Summerville SC. It is a wonderful house to paint in and I used it as a studio for a while imagining all of the many cocktail hours observed within these walls was the impetus for this painting. I also had these wonderful martini glasses. Again the light reflected against the surfaces in this painting is the real subject, convincing the viewer to determine what is warm or cool solid or liquid, real or imagined. This makes for an especially fun exercise after a couple of cocktails.

THE ANIMAL IN THE MAN
January 25, 2025
The Animal in the Man is one of the earliest works of my career, yet it touches upon some elements that continue to fascinate me and are somehow embedded into my work. An artist’s theme can often be seen and felt throughout the years, collections, and even individual pieces. Please get in touch in order to learn more about this piece.
